Daca tot nu apuc sa mai scriu despre anime, sa va povestesc putin despre un alt serial de desene animate venit de la Hanna si Barbera.
Sky Commanders a rulat pentru prima data in 1987 in cadrul programului The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera si, ca multe alte seriale produse de acest studio, nu s-a intins decat pe durata a 13 episoade. O contributie importanta la realizarea acestui show a avut-o si studioul Toei Animation, pe parte de productie si artwork.

Sky Commanders, un grup multinational format din soldati si specialisti in alpinism lupta in fiecare zi pentru a opri planurile generalului Plague si a mercenarilor lui numiti The Riders, care vor sa obtina controlul asupra planetei. Actiunea se desfasoara in Pacificul de Sud, unde un nou continent se crease prin iesirea la suprafata a unui nou element foarte puternic dar instabil radioactiv, numit Phata 7. Generalul Plague voia sa puna mana si sa controleze acest element letal dar generalul Mike Summit si oamenii lui fac tot posibilul ca sa-l impiedice.
Misiunea grupului Sky Commanders este cu atat mai grea cu cat noul continent (High Frontiers) este el insusi un inamic de temut. Oricand conditiile meteo se pot schimba, oricand se poate produce un cutremur, o alunecare de teren sau alta catastrofa naturala.
Ca sa se poate deplasa pe noul continent nu exista decat doua solutii: zboruri la inalta altitudine sau folosirea unor cabluri laser, o versiune avansata a cablurilor de coborare folosite in alpinism. Si, ca pericolul sa fie adus la superlativ, cei aflati pe noul continent trebuie sa se confrunte si cu noi forme de viata, mutanti aparuti in urma actiunii radiatiilor elementului Phata 7.
